Designed specifically for PlayStation 5, the PS VR2 was Sony’s long-awaited virtual reality headset. It debuted earlier this year to positive reviews from the industry, offering a unique experience in the world of headgear.
However, the headset has encountered some difficulties on the market. The PS5 digital version had a starting price of $399, which was higher than this one’s $599. In addition, the PS VR2’s commercial performance was hampered by the very small number of exclusive titles it offered. It has been suggested that PC compatibility could be a practical way of attracting more customers.
There is currently no official confirmation that the PS VR2 will support PC, although Sony has increased its investment in the PC gaming business. Unofficial SteamVR drivers such as iVRy allowed the first-generation PlayStation VR to work with PCs. The creator of iVRy didn’t expect the PS VR2 to have the same compatibility. But in just a few months, iVRy was able to bypass hardware certification, giving the VR community a new sense of optimism.
Playing PS VR2 on PC was perfectly feasible, but it would require additional equipment that has not yet been created or planned, according to another exciting news that iVRy gave two weeks ago. The excitement among VR fans was heightened by this announcement. The PS VR2’s built-in tracking now works on PC, according to another important update from iVRy released just a few hours ago. They stated that “PSVR2 tracking is ‘finished’ and now has full 6DOF headset tracking in SteamVR, with 2000Hz IMU and 60Hz SLAM, same as PS5”.
Day #139: PSVR2 tracking is 'done'. We now have full 6DOF headset tracking in SteamVR, with 2000Hz IMU and 60Hz SLAM, like PS5. pic.twitter.com/Gj7cfXcEt2

It’s important to remember that there’s still a lot of work to be done before the PS VR2 headset is fully compatible with PCs. The iVRy development team have announced their goal to add eye tracking capabilities at a later date, which will enhance the overall experience of the headset.
One day, when we have all of the more important things (video, tracking, controllers) working 100%.

The VR community is eagerly awaiting the PS VR2’s PC compatibility. If this interoperability is fully implemented, it could increase the PS VR2’s appeal and attract non-PlayStation users. While there are still obstacles to overcome, the progress iVRy has made so far shows the potential for a PC-compatible PS VR2, opening up new possibilities for immersive virtual reality experiences.
