Blizzard Entertainment’s vice president and executive producer of the Diablo franchise, Rod Fergusson, recently revealed that the company is developing not one, but two expansions for Diablo IV. In order to support continuous updates and expansions, Fergusson emphasized the need to employ sustainable development approaches. This meant building a strong staff and infrastructure. At the time of his comments, the studio was about to release the base game, with season one coming to an end and season two just beginning.
Fergusson also revealed that Blizzard had already begun work on the first expansion and was preparing for the second, all before the game’s official release. He also revealed that the seasons in Diablo IV will be divided into four equal halves, giving casual players plenty of time to explore the game’s material and collect rewards. Most importantly, Fergusson reassured players that any in-game microtransactions will be purely decorative, ensuring a fair and balanced experience free of “pay to win” components.
