BMW has unveiled its revolutionary ConnectedRide smart glasses, offering motorcyclists a unique driving experience. The glasses feature a head-up display (HUD) similar to those found in cars, giving users access to vital information without taking their eyes off the road.
Riders can easily check information such as speed, GPS and gear information while riding, allowing them to focus on the road for increased safety. Riders can use the handlebar controller to position the projection and set relevant functions before or during the ride, after pairing the glasses with a smartphone via Bluetooth and an app.
To cater for different tastes, BMW Motorrad offers two sets of approved UVA/UVB lenses, complete with frames. With 85% transparency, the first set can be used with helmets with integrated visors. With the colored lenses in the second set, smart glasses can be used as sunglasses. The glasses contain a lithium battery that allows them to operate continuously for up to 10 hours.
The ConnectedRide smart glasses are unique in their ability to work with drivers who wear prescription lenses to correct myopia. The RX adapter, which can accommodate up to 4 dioptres, is used by opticians to adjust the lenses to the patient’s preferred vision. These smart glasses are also designed to fit a variety of helmets and face shapes, providing all-day comfort even on long rides.
This groundbreaking technology improves safety while providing real-time information by eliminating the need for riders to take their eyes off the road. ConnectedRide smart glasses are priced at €690 but offer motorcyclists an unparalleled riding experience, making them an excellent purchase for motorcycle enthusiasts.
