Google has upgraded the Pixel 8 series to the GN2 sensor after four years of using the Samsung ISOCELL GN1 as the primary camera sensor. Compared to the previous generation, this improvement offers a 35% increase in light capture, resulting in brighter photos and faster shutter speeds. With the inclusion of the Tensor G3 processor, the sensor also claims to be able to capture 8K video at 30fps, significantly increasing its capabilities. It is predicted that the Pixel 8 will deliver a significant boost in image quality thanks to these developments.
Staggered HDR, a feature that reduces the time between HDR images and speeds up photography, is also supported by the Pixel 8 for the first time.
