Motorola stunned everyone when it unveiled the Moto Razr 40 at its latest press launch on the 1st of June. One striking feature of this phone is its affordable price compared to other foldable screen phones on the market. With a price tag of just 3999 yuan, it is currently the cheapest foldable screen phone on the market.
Although the Moto Razr 40 has fewer features than the higher-end Moto Razr 40 Ultra, its combination of decent specs and low price will help bring foldable screens to a wider audience.
The Moto Razr 40 has a simple and small design. Its primary display is a 6.9-inch LTPO adaptive high refresh rate display with features such as 1-144Hz refresh rate switching, DC dimming and HDR10+. Despite the lack of a large external screen, the small integrated rear camera module is a brilliant and elegant addition, especially with fun effects like the elf clock.
The rear camera is a dual 64-megapixel + 13-megapixel setup that allows for real-time selfie preview on the external screen, while ensuring high-quality selfies with the primary camera. A 32-megapixel front camera is available for wide-angle selfies.
While core specifications have not been released, preliminary benchmarks indicate that the moto Razr 40 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile processing platform and offers a combination of LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 flash memory, which is more than enough for everyday use.
The Moto Razr 40 is lighter and smaller than many traditional smartphones, weighing only 188.6g and measuring 7.35mm when unfolded.
Other notable features include a 4200mAh battery, 33W wired fast charging, 5W wireless charging, 5G dual SIM standby and NFC.
In terms of cost, the Moto Razr 40 comes in three variants: 8+128GB for 3999 yuan ($564), 8+256GB for 4299 yuan ($606) and 12+256GB for 4699 yuan ($662). It comes in two different colors.
