iPadOS 17 will reportedly bring some major upgrades to iPad owners. The update is rumored to include Stage Manager upgrades, support for lock screen widgets and customization, and more.
The leak comes from @analyst941 on Twitter, who does not have a long track record of reliable iOS leaks. However, he has correctly anticipated several aspects of the iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island. We’d be skeptical about these rumors unless they get more confirmation from other sources.

According to the leaker, Stage Manager will be one of the main focuses of iPadOS 17. Apple introduced Stage Manager as a new multitasking interface as part of iPadOS 16, but the reception from iPad power users has been mixed. Apple appears to be planning several improvements to Stage Manager as part of iPadOS 17, while the core functionality appears to remain unchanged.
- Webcam support on an external display.
- Configuration of audio output sources.
- Stage Manager allows you to stream multiple audio/video sources simultaneously.
- Resizable Dock (external display settings only).
- The iPad display is turned off, but the external display remains on.
This leaker also claims that Apple is working on a “special version of iPadOS 17″ for the long-rumored larger iPad. According to Ross Young and Bloomberg, Apple is working on a 14.1-inch iPad that could be released later this year or in early 2024. One rumor even suggests that a 16-inch model is in the works.
This “special version” of iPadOS 17 will reportedly have the ability to drive two external displays with a resolution of 6K at 60Hz. The source did not provide any further information on what this upgrade might offer.

Also, Apple is said to be bringing “all the features” of the iPhone lock screen customization to the iPad as part of iPadOS 17. For the first time, this will apparently include the ability to move the clock on the iPad’s lock screen.
