Google has been eagerly awaiting the release of its first foldable smartphone, and a new tweet from Evan Blass (@evleaks) has revealed some details about the Pixel Fold. The post included a new render of the foldable phone, which looks sleek and futuristic.
According to the rendering, the Pixel Fold will have a compact body and a high screen-to-body ratio for the external screen. The main screen uses the Pixel Launcher and displays several Google applications, such as Gmail and At a Glance widgets, as well as theme icons.
The Pixel Fold will come with 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and two storage options: 256GB and 512GB, according to previous reports. The two variants are expected to cost $1,799 and $1,919, respectively.
Evan Blass’ video confirms previous claims that the Pixel Fold would be equipped with a Tensor G2 processor, an advance over the Pixel 7 series due to Samsung’s better 5nm technology. The Tensor G2 chipset is said to deliver a smooth and fast user experience.
According to the video, the Pixel Fold will have a 5.8-inch outer screen with a 1920×1080 resolution and a 7.6-inch inner screen with a 1920×1840 resolution. Both screens will use OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Pixel Fold will have a triple camera configuration on the back, including a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens. Battery life is expected to be in excess of 24 hours, with the extreme power saving mode extending battery life to 72 hours.
The video also reveals that Google will start accepting pre-orders for the Pixel Fold on 10 May and that the foldable phone will be available by the end of June.
In conclusion, the Pixel Fold looks to be an outstanding smartphone that will provide an excellent user experience. Google has been working on its foldable technology for some time now, and the Pixel Fold could be the product of those efforts. We can’t wait to get our hands on it and see how it works in practice.
