After many days and weeks of rumors and leaks, Xiaomi has finally released a new King Kong phone today, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. This is the world’s first second-generation Snapdragon 7+ chip phone. It’s currently available for pre-order from 1999 yuan ($291). It will go on sale on 31 March.

Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 and More
Co-developed by Redmi and Qualcomm, the Redmi Note 12 Turbo is the first phone to feature the second-generation Snapdragon 7+ chip. The latter is based on a TSMC 4nm process and uses an architecture of 1× 2.91GHz Cortex-X2 super-core + 3× 2.49GHz Cortex-A710 large-core + 4× 1.8GHz Cortex-A510 small-core. At the same time, this chip integrates the Adreno 725 580MHz GPU. So although it’s a mid-range chip, it uses the same 4nm process and architecture as the Snapdragon 8+. Even the memory technologies are the same – LPDDR5 and UFS3.1. In fact, it can score over 1 million points on AnTuTu.
The Redmi Note 12 Turbo also features Redmi’s first Super Diffusion Diversion VC heat dissipation capacity, which is increased by 35%. It adds diversion grooves to improve the directionality of the vapor flow and increase the speed at which hot vapor diffuses to the cold end.

The Violent Engine is a technology developed and tuned by Redmi that optimizes and accelerates the entire process system. Another highlight is the support for Union Power 2.0 scene intelligent power-saving technology. In addition, this handset adopts 5GHz Wi-Fi independent design, supports focus calculation, and supports a 10X super-resolution touch.
Redmi Note 12 Turbo Selling Points
The front screen has ultra-small bezels. It’s as thin as 1.42mm, and the screen-to-body ratio is as high as 93.4%. It uses 68.7 billion colors and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. The 6.67-inch diamond-like OLED screen supports 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming to reduce eyestrain.
Other screen parameters include 2400*1080 resolution, 1000nit ultra-high brightness, 120Hz variable refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 16000-level auto brightness adjustment, adaptive HDR, and SGS low blue light certification.
The Note 12 Turbo is the first bezel-less design in Redmi history. It is 7.9mm thick and weighs 181g. The phone is available in three colors – ice feather white, star sea blue, and carbon fiber black.
The Redmi Note 12 Turbo has a built-in 5000mAh battery that can last 1.33 days of heavy use. The battery also supports 67W fast charging.
The main camera features a 64MP sensor with a 1/2-inch 1.4-micron (4in1) pixel array and supports OIS (optical image stabilization). Alongside the main camera are 8MP ultra-wide angle and 2MP macro lenses. The selfie shooter has a resolution of 16MP.
Other features include an X-axis motor, dual speakers, multi-function NFC, infrared remote control, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and more. And, of course, it runs the latest MIUI 14 system based on Android 13.
