Today, Sony began rolling out the PS5 version 7.0 update to all players worldwide. As a reminder, the beta version of this update was rolled out to select players last month. It’s a major update that brings tons of new features, including the integration of the PS5 console with the Discord voice chat system. At the same time, the 1440p resolution offers VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support.
In terms of the latter, once you have received and installed the update, you will be able to enjoy smoother visuals when using a VRR-compatible HDMI 2.1 display with 1440p resolution. Of course, the games you play should support VRR.
Players will also be able to update the DualSense Controller wirelessly rather than having to use a USB cable each time an update is released.
Players in select countries such as the US and UK will be able to use voice commands to record video clips. You can say, “Hey PlayStation, record this,” or “Hey PlayStation, start recording,” or even “Hey PlayStation, record the last X minutes,” and the console will do what you say.
