Over the past two weeks, we have heard a lot of rumors that Sony’s PS6 game console will be designed by PS5 designer Mark Cerny. Most of these rumors stem from a new patent by Cerny that describes a method of accelerating ray tracing on the PS5. However, further analysis suggests that this may be for the PS6 rather than the PS5.
This rumor about the design of the PS6 console is at least a guess. Some Twitter users have said that Cerny is leading the design of the PS6. @PS6Countdown said in a tweet that Cerny is working hard on the PlayStation brand, “probably the PS6”, while another user said he’d heard something similar from a trusted source. However, we would advise against believing every rumor you hear.

While we were confused by these rumors, Resetera clarified that Saeny’s patent is not based on PS5 hardware. The source said that this patent has an RT unit (ray tracing unit) like Intel or Nvidia, while PS5 and AMD do not have such a unit on any released hardware. So there is every reason to believe that this is for future PlayStation models. We mean both the PS6 and the PS5 Pro/Slim.
Rumor from trusted source: Cerny has been granted the hardware design job once again for PS6. First American to design a PS system with PS4 and now will be responsible for 3 generations of PS hardware.

However, Tom Henderson doesn’t think all the PS5 Pro/Slim rumors are true. Regarding the new version of the PS5, he said that it is only the “second generation” of the PS5. At the same time, he also predicted that the first-generation PS5 would be discontinued at the end of this year. What’s more interesting is that he’s heard more news about the PS6 than the PS5 Pro.
On all the PS5 Pro/Slim rumors – I don't think it's a pro or slim, My understanding is that it's just "gen 2" of the regular PS5.
The normal PS5 will cease production at the end of this year and the new model will start in April and begin selling in September.

Saeny was the main system architect for the PS4, PlayStation Vita and PS5. So it should come as no surprise that he is leading the design of the PS6.
According to Sony documents, the PS6’s release date will be after 2027, and it is said that “The Last of Us 3” could also end up on the PS6.
