Last week, POCO launched an entry-level smartphone called the POCO C50. There is every reason to believe that the company will soon release another budget Poco C-series smartphone. We are talking about the POCO C55, which is said to go on sale soon. As usual, it’s not anything new but the rebranded Redmi 12C that was recently released in China.
Whistleblower Kacsper Skshipek hinted in a recent tweet that the Chinese version of the Redmi 12C will launch globally as the POCO C55. It is expected that this entry-level smartphone will also appear in other markets, such as Ukraine. The Redmi C series smartphones are budget devices that allow many customers to get their hands on affordable models with mainly basic + a few advanced features. By the way, the recently launched POCO C50 is the rebranded Redmi A1+.
If the POCO C55 is indeed a Redmi 12C clone, it will have the same specifications. The Redmi 12C is equipped with a 6.71-inch display with an HD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 500 nits. Under the hood of the phone, we can find an octa-core MediaTek Helio G85 processor combined with a Mali-G52 GPU. The phone should come with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage. We guess it will also support storage expansion through the microSD card (up to 512 GB).
Other than that, the Redmi 12C comes with a dual-camera module. The main camera has a 50MP resolution. Plus, there is an LED flash that should help when taking photos in low-light conditions. The smartphone also received a 5-megapixel front camera. The fingerprint scanner is located on the back.
The 5000mAh battery supports 10W wired charging. The Redmi 12C is equipped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port. The phone is offered in Shadow Black, Sea Blue, Mint Green, and Lavender colors.
