With hardly any noise and with just a note on its website, Intel has officially launched its Intel Core i9-13900KS processor. The company unveiled the product calling it “the world’s fastest desktop processor” when operating at its maximum frequency, 6GHz. Intel even highlights this as the first CPU capable of reaching 6 GHz of frequency without overclocking.
Overall, the new Intel Core i9-13900KS maintains the company’s Intel Core i9-13900K specifications, such as 24 cores (eight for performance and 16 for efficiency) and 32 threads. The main difference is the performance in the 6 GHz frequency when in turbo clock, against the 5.8 GHz of the 13900K, in addition to presenting slightly different TDPs in relation to the base model, being 150W / 253W (Turbo) against 125W / 253W (Turbo).
Other Features of Intel Core i9-13900KS
In addition to the turbo clock operating at a frequency never seen before, this special edition processor also comes with a 36MB Intel Smart Cache and a total of 20 PCIe lanes (16 PCIe 5.0 lanes and four PCIE 4.0 lanes). The model supports DDR5 5600 MT/s and DDR4 3200 MT/s memories and is compatible with Z790 and Z690 motherboards with the most updated BIOS recommended.
The manager of Intel Client Computing Group, Gaming and Channel Marcus Kennedy commented that Extreme gamers and enthusiasts can now boost their daily performance more than ever with the first desktop processor in the PC industry to deliver stock 6.0GHz speeds.
Availability
Intel Core i9-13900KS will be available starting January 12, 2023, with MSRP starting at US$699. It is available in its original packaging from resellers worldwide or integrated into Intel OEM and channel partner systems.
