Today, a Chinese brand released the first smart flying camera, called the Hover Camera X1. It continues the design of the previous generation, but now, it is more compact in size and weighs half of it, only 125 grams. The thickness is only 3cm.
Advantages
Moreover, the Hover Camera X1 still uses the palm take-off and landing operation of the previous model. But these functions have been further improved. Users do not need to connect it to the mobile app. You just have to click the mode selection button and the take-off button on the fuselage. Once done, it will automatically take off from the palm of the hand, and complete the shooting of flight videos and photos through automatic mirror movement. At the end of the operation, it will automatically land back in the user’s palm.
The mainstream drones on the market still use aerial photography as the main usage scenario. Obviously, drones in this category can fly higher, further, and more professionally. At the same time, they can capture more precise photos and videos. However, aerial photography drones generally have a high threshold for operation and use. Also, they are expensive, have certain risks, and have high requirements for the use environment (such as outdoor GPS signal strength, etc.).
In this sense, the Hover Camera X1 differs from traditional aerial photography drones. Through bold design and innovative interactive experience, it greatly simplifies the entire use process.
At the same time, it has built-in a variety of intelligent tracks. You have to select the mode on the fuselage, and take off with one button to take a complete aerial video record and photo shoot. After shooting, the X1 will automatically fly back to the take-off position. Users only need to spread their palms flat under the flying camera, and it will automatically land. In order to achieve safe use, the X1 adopts an all-inclusive frame design.
Our protagonist also comes with powerful single-axis gimbal stabilization and electronic stabilization technology. It is coupled with automatic level correction. So we can say that this drone has achieved the level of image stabilization that can only be achieved by traditional three-axis mechanical gimbals.
Hover Camera X1 Camera and Performance
There is a large aperture of f/2.4, it supports 2.7K ultra-high-definition and HDR images can withstand up to level 4 wind. It also supports a maximum real-time image transmission distance of 30 meters, which meets the needs of all kinds of close-up shooting.

The Hover Camera X1 has advanced VIO (Visual Inertial Odometer) technology and ToF laser altitude determination system to achieve precise trajectory with centimeter-level accuracy.
Since the flight is completely realized automatically, it greatly improves the “effectiveness” of the flight time. So when taking videos with fading away effect, it will take only 10-20 seconds. On a single charge, this drone can realize 20 video recordings with automatic mirror movement.
The price of the Hover Camera X1 starts at 1999 yuan ($287), and it is available in two colors, black and white. The basic version supports 1080P@30fps high-definition video shooting, and comes with built-in 16GB storage. The standard version supports 2.7K@30fps and 1080P@60fps two ultra-high-definition video shooting modes as well as HDR. It comes with built-in 32GB storage, priced at 2299 yuan ($330).
The bundle includes the standard version, a charging butler, and two extra batteries, priced at 2799 yuan ($402).
