Today, Motorola held a new product release event and uncovered the Moto X40 flagship phone. It comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, starting at 3399 yuan ($487).
The phone is available in two colorways – crystal black and tourmaline blue. Also, it adopts a “12-fold variation of Gaussian curvature” design. The middle frame is made of aviation aluminum. The thickness is 8.59mm, while the weight is controlled under 197g.
As said, under the hood, our protagonist hosts the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. But apart from this, there is also LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.0 flash storage, and a large 3D cooling system (version 2.0). Other than that, this phone boasts the company’s in-house made system scheduling engine, MAXE. In terms of software, the Moto X40 runs on the MYUI 5.0 system.
One of the main selling points of the phone is that it has an IP68 rating. The company spokesperson put it directly into ice water at the press conference. The phone continued to operate and supports Moto gestures + underwater shooting video functions.
Surprisingly, on the front, we have a 60MP lens. On the opposite side, there is a triple rear camera consisting of a 50MP main lens, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle macro lens, and a 12MP portrait telephoto lens. The camera module supports high-definition portrait mode, autofocus tracking, night scene mode, and horizon lock and comes with a 4K HDR10+ imaging system and 10bit color management.
The 6.7-inch OLED hyperboloid screen has a 2400×1080 resolution, supports 165Hz refresh rate, 1 billion colors, and comes with SGS double eye protection certification, HEV 4.92% ultra-low blue light ratio, full DC dimming, and many more.
The machine has a 4600mAh battery, which supports 125W wired fast charging + 15W wireless charging + 15W reverse charging. There are also five great signal enhancement technologies covering all frequency bands.
The phone is already available for booking and will start shipping on December 22. The prices are:
