Moto X40 Will Launch on 15 December With Two SD 8 Gen 2 Based Variants

Recently, the presentations of many Chinese manufacturers were postponed due to the death of the former president and party secretary. Once again Weibo has been the place chosen by Motorola to announce the launch date of one of its devices. As the Motorola teasers below describe, the Moto X40 will arrive on December 15th in China, with a global launch likely to take place in early 2023.

Furthermore, Motorola has already teased that the Moto X40 has a quad-curved screen, which it has reinforced with its latest teaser. The same teaser confirms that there are also two Moto X40 models, one with a central hole in the display and another without it. The latter could be a version with a built-in camera under the screen. Although only one could make it out of Cina as the Edge 40 Pro.

In addition to this, the display will be curved on 4 sides with a 6.67 ″ Full HD + central punch-hole design. The panel is made with 10-bit OLED technology and will have a 144 Hz refresh rate for the basic variant and a good 165 Hz for the Pro one. The Moto X40 also received an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Moto X40 could feature an OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. In terms of cameras, it can get two 50MP sensors and a 12MP telephoto lens.

Moving on to the camera, we have three sensors whose main one will be 50MP, and who knows we won’t see the debut of a possible Sony IMX890 unless an OmniVision sensor is still used. For the other two, however, we have another 50MP sensor (and beware that it could be the talked about IMX758) for the wide angle and finally, a 12MP sensor for portraits. Finally, the selfie camera, which will once again be 60MP, as the previous model has accustomed us to.

Motorola recently made a post. The post on Weibo reveals that this upcoming flagship smartphone will pack a 4,600mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging. It has also been announced that it will have Android 13 under the MYUI 5.0 layer.

In principle, there is also a Pro variant, but unfortunately, we do not yet know how it will be compared to the basic model. It is also not certain that the two phones will arrive together. However, we will know more on December 15th.
