Though many know ZTE’s Nubia brand due to the Axon series of smartphones, its annual flagship series is considered the Z lineup. Earlier this year, the company uncovered the Z40 series of flagship smartphones. They came with several highlights, making the phone stand out. Today, it posted on Weibo that the new-gen Nubia Z50 will be announced this month. Of course, it will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform and a new 35mm custom optical system.
At the same time, Nubia published a poster showing the brand’s iconic red circle. The current model shows that the primary lens has a red circle around it, which has become a distinguishing feature. In addition, Nubia’s recently released flagship models all focus on 35mm humanistic lenses. We guess the Nubia Z50 will be among them.
In fact, this is not surprising that Nubia decided to launch its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 phone before the end of the year. The first model with the chip onboard, called the VIVO X90 Pro+, is already out. The iQOO 11 should come either tomorrow or on December 15; the Xiaomi Mi 13 will be announced on December 11. And we also know that many other bigwigs will introduce their phones with this chip under the hood in the coming weeks and months. So if Nubia doesn’t want to fall behind, it should bring it as soon as possible.
Anyway, let’s recall the key parameters of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It has the same clock speed as the 8+ Gen 1, but the architecture is different. The new processor adopts a 1+2+2+3 architecture with a super-large Kryo Prime core (based on Cortex-X3) running at 3.2GHz to provide high single-thread performance. Four performance cores are also running at 2.8GHz for better handling of multi-threaded workloads. Finally, there are three efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz.
