Samsung was among the first manufacturers that release a folding screen smartphone. At that time, only Huawei was making competition to the Korean brand. However, recently, many other major smartphone brands launched their own models. So we can say that the foldables market is saturated. On the other hand, Samsung still leads the list. Well, what we said above refers to the traditional horizontally folding screen smartphones. But what about the clamshell models?
In this niche, Samsung has almost no rivals. The only competing brands are Motorola with its Razr line flip phones and the Huawei Pocket series of smartphones. Today, we even heard that Samsung is going to update the Galaxy Z Flip line with a new model, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
As I told my Super Followers yesterday, there are a couple of important changes coming to the Z Flip 5… pic.twitter.com/rEcD2DvaWw

According to DSCC analyst Ross Young, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come with a larger secondary display. Its size will vary between 3.3 inches and 3.4 inches. By the way, the current Samsung Galaxy Flip 4 only has a 1.9-inch secondary display.
In addition, the internal screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also be upgraded. The phone will come with a new hinge design to further make the crease display less obvious. At the moment, this is the only thing we know about the next-gen model. But for reference, let’s recall the selling points of the existing smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 was launched in August this year. It is by far the most successful folding screen smartphone. Due to the smooth user experience and compact size, it could win customers’ hearts immediately.
Samsung’s goal in 2023 is to ship 26 million folding-screen Galaxy phones. So the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 will definitely help the company reach this goal and have a good sales performance. As for the launch date, we think it will come in August-September 2023.
