Today, Xiaomi disclosed that the entire series of the Mi 13 would have an IP68 waterproof and dustproof certificate. This rating can be met only at premium smartphones of the top brands, such as Apple and Samsung. And now, it turns out that Xiaomi makes its flagships equivalent to the toppest models on the globe. What’s more surprising, another bigwig, Motorola, announced that it would join the fun.
A Lenovo executive said that the Moto X40 would also support IP68 waterproof level. This also seems to be Motorola’s first flagship model to support IP68 in the last two years.
Moto X40 is Still In the Hunt
Although the phone will support an IP68 rating, the manufacturer will not provide a warranty for water ingress failures. However, in daily use, it can guarantee regular operation. It will not cause damage to the interior when it is accidentally dropped into a basin, splashed with water, or exposed to rain.
In the field of electronic products, we can find the keywords in titles, such as “waterproof” or “splash-resistant.” However, even those manufacturers do not recommend users wash their devices directly with water.
In addition, it should be noted that IP68 is only waterproof, not waterproof steam. Thus, taking a bath with a smartphone is still very risky, and there is a risk of condensation inside, so it is recommended that you do not try it.
According to Motorola’s latest poster, the Moto X40 will meet with us in December. But we guess the company will start shipping later.
The machine has already got a TENAA certification. The corresponding photos show that it would use a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1080P and a hole in the upper central area.
The rear camera uses a square-like three-camera solution, coming with a 50-megapixel outsole main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel portrait lens. The camera should support 4x optical zoom.
In terms of configuration, the Moto X40 will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip that should be paired with 8GB / 12GB / 18GB memory and 128GB / 256GB / 512GB storage. The built-in battery will have a 4950mAh / 4450mAh capacity.
In addition, the Moto X40’s AnTuTu benchmark score reached 1,312,901 points. Due to the customized MAXE system engine and the scheduling strategy, it can comprehensively balance performance and power consumption through more intelligent scene recognition.
