Starting with the Dimensity 9000+, MediaTek has been able to make competition to Qualcomm. The recent benchmark reports show that the Dimensity chip beats all Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 smartphones. However, Qualcomm will uncover the next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip in mid-November. In its turn, the Taiwanese manufacturer will release its own chip, namely the Dimensity 9200. Today, the first benchmark screenshots of the upcoming MediaTek chip appeared on the net.
The information comes from a reliable source, a Weibo blogger who always provides valuable and accurate information. This time, he said that the GPU running score of the Dimensity 9200 is 328fps on GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.0 off-screen test and 228fps on the GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.1 off-screen test. By the way, the chip integrates the Immortalis-G715 GPU.
Another Chinese leaker said that the frequency of the Dimensity 9200 prototype is 3.05GHz + 2.85GHz + 2.0GHz.
In contrast, according to Qualcomm’s official data, the GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.0 off-screen test score of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is 281fps, and the GFX 1080p Manhattan 3.1 off-screen test score is 188fps. Thus, at least, in comparison to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Dimensity 9200 will perform better.
Apart from this, the current MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ scores about 220fps and 160fps, respectively. The Apple A16 scores about 280fps and 200fps, respectively. It seems that the GPU performance of MediaTek Dimensity 9200 is really bright. So we are eagerly waiting for the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to see how it performs.
Not that long ago, we learned that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 GPU had surpassed the Apple A16 chip in a test. From the same source, we also learned that the Dimensity 9200 reached 1.26 million points in AnTuTu.
The Dimensity 9200 will use the latest TSMC 4nm process, and the CPU architecture will be upgraded to a new generation of ultra-large core Cortex-X3. The X3 core is expected to increase performance by 25% and also greatly improve the energy efficiency ratio.
The biggest feature of the new GPU is that it supports hardware-level ray tracing technology. Compared with software-accelerated ray tracing, the performance can be improved by 300%. At the same time, compared with the previous generation Mail-G710, the overall performance is also improved by 15%, and the energy consumption is reduced by 15%.
