To pay tribute to Samsung’s foldable smartphones, the company, jointly with China Telecom, launched customized versions of the current foldable and clamshell phones. The Samsung W23 (16GB+512GB) is priced at 15,999 yuan ($2209), while the W23 Flip (12GB+512GB) costs 9999 yuan ($1380).
The Samsung W23 hinge shell adopts the high-end watch metal precision cutting process and is carved by nano-level polishing and grinding. So under different light angles, it will have various light and shadow effects.
Apart from this, the Samsung W23 adopts a new structure hinge, which is thinner and more flexible. The exterior adopts the nano-scale metal precision cutting process to carve the checkered pattern.
The golden frame is matched with the black ceramic back plate. So it looks simple but elegant. The bas-relief-like metal pattern of the hinge shell complements the Samsung logo, adding decorative elements and highlighting the brand’s gorgeous texture.
It is worth noting that the hinge of the Samsung W23 can hover, and with the adaptive split-screen mode, the main screen can be divided into two parts. The upper part is for video conferencing, while the lower part uses the S Pen to take notes.
You can also directly and conveniently mirror the mobile phone content to the TV or large display screen and share the display content with other online members synchronously.
In addition, the Samsung W23 internal screen uses a self-developed ultra-thin flexible glass with a new PET protective film. Due to it, the durability has been significantly improved compared with the previous generation. So now, it’s more difficult to damage the screen.
As for key features, the Samsung W23 has an internal screen size of 7.6 inches with a resolution of 2176×1812, an external screen size of 6.2 inches with a resolution of 2316×904, a rear 50MP main camera, supports OIS and has a multi-camera system. The latter includes a 100MP main lens, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. There is another camera on the internal screen. It has a 4MP resolution. At the same time, the battery is 4400mAh.
Samsung W23 Flip
The W23 Flip has a 1.9-inch external screen, which brings various functions. Users can make calls, turn on and off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth without unfolding the phone, and preview the shooting image at the original scale.
The inner screen is 6.7 inches and uses an AMOLED material. It also supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Thus, it can dynamically adjust the refresh rate through the adaptive function to achieve a longer battery life experience. The Samsung W23 Flip has an internal screen resolution of 2640×1080 and an external screen resolution of 260×512. Inside, it hosts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship processor. There is also a rear 12MP+12MP dual camera, which supports OIS. The front camera has a 10MP resolution. The battery capacity is 3700mAh.
The built-in vertical free shooting system brings a new hands-free camera experience, and the free hovering of the folding screen can realize more shooting methods.
It is worth noting that the Samsung W23 Flip supports IPX8 dust and water resistance. Simply put, it can be left underwater at a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes without pressure. This is something unseen on folding-screen smartphones.
Both phones are available for pre-order, and they will start shipping on October 28.
