Everyone knows that Qualcomm is the leader in the mobile chips market. But the same people know that the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer is doing its best to outrun the American company. It seems the former one has finally reached its goal. Though the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is considered the most powerful mobile chip in the Android camp, we have at least two proofs that the Dimensity 9000+ is better.
Recently, AnTuTu released its list of best-performing smartphones for September. According to it, the ROG 6D with the Dimensity 9000+ beat the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 models. Interestingly, it was the only model on the list coming with this chip. The Qualcomm chip powered all other models.
Today, another benchmark platform Master Lu, released its list of the best-performing smartphones for the third quarter (Q3) of this year. On this list as well, the MediaTek chip has no equals.
In terms of specific benchmark score data, the CPU part of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is divided into 340,706 points, while the CPU score of the Dimensity 9000+ has reached 352,717 points. Thus, it’s noticeably stronger than its rival.
However, in the GPU part, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 scored 516,004 points, surpassing the Dimensity 9000+’s 513,668 points. The difference is not big. But it’s there.
Overall, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000+ have significantly improved performance based on the original version. Although there are some differences between the two, the gap between them is small.
It is worth mentioning that, judging from the list data, the benchmark score of the Snapdragon 870 even exceeds that of the Snapdragon 888 with higher theoretical parameters. It’s much closer to the Snapdragon 888+.
