In July this year, ASUS launched the ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro. However, the company did not release the Ultra version. Today, the company solved this problem by releasing two new models in this series – ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate.
ASUS ROG Phone 6D Series
ROG Phone 6D is ASUS’ first gaming phone coming with a MediaTek processor. Both models sport the Dimensity 9000+ processor. ASUS said they want to provide users with more and better choices.
Apart from the mentioned feature, the phone also uses its own GameCool 6 CPU cooling solution. More interestingly, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate has an additional function. We are talking about the AeroActive Portal, which can work with AeroActive fans for better cooling.
As a Chinese leaker said, the new ROG Phone 6D will come with the Dimensity 9000+. The latter has 1 X2 core clocked at 3.35GHz, three A710 cores at 3.2GHz A710, and four A510 at 1.8GHz. In GeekBench 5, the phone scored over 1.4K points in the single-core test and 4.6K points in the multi-core test.
In terms of other key features, they are identical to the original ROG Phone 6. Both phones have a 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz, support for HDR10+, and are covered by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Also, the phone supports IPX4, comes with two speakers, a 3.5mm jack, a side-mounted USB-C port, and a huge 6000mAh battery inside that supports 65W USB PD charging.
The ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate will come in a new matte color that Asus calls Space Gray. While the 6D is similar in weight to other phones in the series, the 6D Ultimate is 8 grams heavier than all other models, and the 6D Ultimate will also feature the 6 Pro’s ROG Vision display on the back. It’s worth mentioning that accessories for the ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro are also compatible with the new 6D and 6D Ultimate.
The series comes with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 SSD storage. The 6D Ultimate does not provide the 18GB memory of the 6 Pro.
Another change in the ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate is the GPU. The previous models used a Qualcomm Adreno 730, and the new phone will use the ARM Mali-G710 GPU.
The camera part remains the same. Thus, the rear main camera is a 50-megapixel 1/1.56″ sensor with 1.0μm pixels and an f/1.9 lens, supplemented by a 13-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 5-megapixel macro camera. As for the selfie shooter, there is a 12-megapixel sensor.
The standard version of ROG Phone 6D is priced at £799 in the UK and is expected to start shipping in the next few weeks. At the same time, the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is priced at £1199, with an AeroActive fan included.
ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition
Interestingly, ASUS launched the ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition, which features a new RGB logo on the back based on the Batman badge. Of course, there are various custom wallpapers and icon styles, animations, sound effects, and more. Asus has also bundled many accessories, including an interesting bat signal projector that projects the famous bat signal onto nearby surfaces and a hard-shell case for carrying your device and accessories.
The ROG Phone 6 Batman Edition sports a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor in the North American market and a Dimensity 9000+ processor in other markets. Asus has not announced the price of the device in North America, but the version with the Dimensity 9000+ will cost 1199 euros.
