It seems Huawei is returning. Today, the company released the new Huawei Mate 50 series of flagship phones. And we have to say that these models reached the ceiling of the Android camp.
Design
The Huawei Mate 50 series inherits the Mate’s iconic axis-symmetric star ring design. On the front, it carries a 6.7-inch OLED screen. The latter supports 2700×1224 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 1.07 billion primary color display, HDR / HDR Vivid, and many more. Also, the phone comes with face unlock support and a fingerprint recognition scanner placed under the screen. The body weight is 202g, and the built-in battery has a 4460mAh capacity.
Apart from the vanilla version, there is also the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. It uses a 6.74-inch screen, 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 1.07 billion primary color display, HDR / HDR Vivid, supports 3D face payment, in-screen fingerprint, etc. This model is slightly heavier, 205g, and the built-in battery has a 4700mAh capacity.
The entire series supports 66W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging. Plus, there is an emergency mode. The energy accumulating pump can be activated intelligently under 1% low power. So the mobile phone can continue to stand by for 3 hours, or talk for 12 minutes.
Photography
After several years of accumulation, it has formed its own mobile imaging technology by building the four major technical bases of “light, machine, electricity, and computing.” At today’s event, the company announced Huawei Imaging XMAGE. It is going to make competition to other brands such as Leica.
Huawei Imaging XMAGE includes a sense of realism (natural pictures, what you see is what you get), a sense of moisturization (loyal to light and shade, strengthening the sense of light), a sense of transparency (clear details, distinct layers), and a sense of breathing (the main body is prominent, the virtual and the real have a degree).
The vanilla Huawei Mate 50 features a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2, super macro shooting), a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens (RYYB, 5x optical zoom, f/3.4, OIS), 100x Zoom range (13mm-1350mm), 50-megapixel ultra-optical variable lens (RYYB, f/1.4-f/4.0), laser focus sensor, and 10-channel multispectral sensor.
As for the Pro variant, it comes with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2, super macro shooting), a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens (RYYB, 3.5x optical zoom, f/3.5, OIS), 200 Double zoom range (13mm-2700mm), 50-megapixel super-optical variable lens (RYYB, f/1.4-f/4.0, OIS), proximity light sensor, laser focus sensor, and 10-channel multispectral sensor.
Performance
The Huawei Mate 50 / Pro features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G chip, which uses TSMC 4nm process, and it runs HarmonyOS 3.0.
The Special Version: Huawei Mate50 RS Porsche design
The Huawei Mate50 RS Porsche design continues the supercar design gene, with a rear-camera iconic star diamond design, central axis symmetry aesthetics, a sculptural ceramic body and a supercar flying line design. The new dark blue porcelain color body adopts CeraBicolor two-color ceramic technology.
Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche design comes with a super optical variable imaging system. Also, it features the industry’s first super macro telephoto lens, the first dual-lens group long-stroke sliding axis technology, and supports 35x super macro shooting.
Price
The price of the Huawei Mate 50 starts from 4,999 yuan ($718), and the price of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro starts from 6,799 yuan ($977). The Huawei Mate 50 RS Porsche Design is priced at 12,999 yuan ($1868) and will start shipping on September 21.
