Today is a big day for Xiaomi. It held a new product launch event and announced myriads of new products. Apart from the much-awaited Xiaomi Mi 12S series of smartphones, the Mi Band 7 Pro /smartband/smartwatch, and a few other models, the company also unleashed one of the most powerful laptops not only in its history but in the field as well. We are talking about the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022.

There are two versions of the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022. One of them has a 14-inch display, while the second one has a 16-inch display.

Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022 Biggest Highlights

Anyway, the series still uses the high-end CNC integrated engraving process and 6 series aviation aluminum alloy material. The weight of the 14-inch variant is only 1.5kg, while the thickness is 14.9mm, making it extremely portable.

We have reported that the biggest selling point of the Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022 will be its screen. The 14-inch variant comes with an OLED master screen with a resolution of 2880*1800 and a golden ratio of 16:10. Samsung specially customized it for notebooks. The latest E4 OLED has a black brightness of as low as 0.0005nits. in effect, the power consumption is reduced by 16% compared with the previous generation. The screen ratio is as high as 90%. The ultra-narrow bezel brings the ultimate visual immersion.

Apart from this, the screen has a peak brightness of up to 600nits, supports 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 100% sRGB color gamut, and has a 3D LUT color correction algorithm developed by Xiaomi. This technology is inherited from smartphones. And our protagonist is the first notebook to come with it.

In other aspects, Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022 14-inch supports Dolby Vision certification, VESA Display HDR 500 certification, TÜV Rheinland hardware low blue light certification, and Eye Care Display dual certification. The Light Sensor smart light-sensing function can automatically adjust the brightness of the screen and keyboard.

The Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022 14-inch is Xiaomi’s first touchscreen notebook, which supports 10-point high-definition touch and Win11 gesture operations, as well as the self-developed pressure-sensitive touchpad that comes standard with the whole system. The broadband X-axis linear motor has a more sensitive response and a more realistic touch. It can replace the mouse operation, and the experience is said to be comparable to the MacBook Pro series.

Hardware and Performance

Under the hood, this laptop uses the 12-generation Core P platform. The Core i5-1240P comes with an advanced heterogeneous architecture, 12 cores, and 16 threads. The turbo frequency is up to 4.4GHz, and the performance release is up to 35W. It has passed the stringent Intel Evo certification, including more than 200 tests and extreme tests of 150 certifications.

Such a powerful chip also requires a good cooling system. There are two fan radiators, dual air outlets, 8+6mm dual heat pipes, and the C-side keyboard and D-side grille have been specially treated to improve the cooling efficiency.

Other hardware features include 16GB LPDDR5-5200 memory, 512GB PCIe 4.0 hard drive, 100W gallium nitride charger, 56Wh large battery, and 2 full-featured USB3.2 Gen2, support for PD charging + DP 1.4 charging, a Thunderbolt 4 interface, and 3.5mm audio interface.

Of course, this laptop is not only pre-installed with genuine Win11 and Office software but also a full set of Xiaomi ecological software, including MIUI+, Xiaomi Computer Assistant, Xiao Ai, etc.

The Core i5 version of Xiaomi Notebook Pro 14 2022 is priced at 5,899 yuan ($880), and the i5+MX550 standalone version is priced at 6,499 yuan ($970), and the i7+RTX 2050 version is priced at 7,999 yuan ($1194).

Xiaomi Notebook Pro 2022 16-inch Version

The Xiaomi Notebook Pro 16 differs from the 14-inch variant due to the screen size and resolution. The larger version has a 4K resolution. The rest of the features remain unchanged.

The larger version of the Xiaomi laptop also cost more. For instance, i5-1240P + 16GB + 512GB model comes at 6499 yuan ($970), while the i7-1260P + 16GB + 512GB + RTX 2050 model costs 8499 yuan ($1268).
