It seems that there is a rush for Intel to launch its Raptor Lake processors, and proof of this is that ASRock has already announced a new BIOS for its Intel 600-series motherboards with support for the next generation of Intel processors, codenamed Raptor Lake-S. The announcement does not reveal the specific timing of the appearance of new processors, it only states that they will be released “soon.”
ASRock New BIOS
The new BIOS of ASRock is supporting 13th Gen Intel Core processors, which are coming to Z690, H670, B660, and H610 motherboards, all with LGA 1700 sockets.
This announcement fulfills Intel’s promise that its LGA 1700 platform would be compatible with two generations of CPUs, which are the current Alder Lake, which belongs to the 12th generation of processors, and the Raptor Lake, which belong to the generation number 13.
This means that when 13th Gen Intel Core processors are released in the coming months, it will only require a BIOS update for them to install seamlessly into your system. The exact list of BIOSes for each model can be found below.
ASRock is the first motherboard manufacturer to offer a BIOS with support for Raptor Lake processors, and many more will surely follow in the coming weeks, announcing their own BIOS to welcome the new generation of Intel processors.
For those who don’t know
Most ASRock 600 series models come with BIOS flashback support that allows you to update the UEFI/ BIOS without installing a CPU or memory on the motherboard.
