In 2009, there was no smartphone maker that could compete with HTC. But its hegemony didn’t last long. The next year, there was another king in the Android smartphone market, Samsung. Since then, this manufacturer has been going down a dark hole. Well, in the past two years, we haven’t seen any new smartphones coming our way from this manufacturer. And today, it quietly released a new model dubbed the HTC Desire 22 Pro.

The company announced its first metaverse mobile phone, the Desire 22 Pro. The phone mainly focuses on functions related to the Viverse and the metaverse. It has a built-in Viverse entrance to the metaverse. There is an app, Vive Avatar for creating virtual avatars, and Vive Wallet for managing virtual assets. The phone is highly recommended to use with your Vive Flow glasses.
The Desire 22 Pro has a mid-range configuration. For instance, it comes with a 6.6-inch 1,080 x 2,412 (9:20) resolution 120Hz screen. Under the hood, it hosts a Snapdragon 695 5G processor, which is paired with 8GB of memory and 128GB of native storage.
There are three rear camera sensors, including a 64MP main camera, a 13MP wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth camera. The front-facing camera has a 32MP resolution.
The rest of the features include a 4,520mAh battery, which supports wireless charging and wireless reverse charging, an IP67 waterproof rating, and a MicroSD card slot.
The HTC Desire 22 Pro is available in two colors: Wave Gold and Starry Night Black, priced at NT$11,990 (about $404). It will go on sale in Taiwan and China starting July 1.
In addition, HTC will also launch a bundle consisting of the HTC Desire 22 Pro and Vive Flow soon. It is convenient for users to enter the world of the Metaverse at a time, priced at NT$23,490 (about $790).
