Ultra-short-throw projectors are not new. But many brands that are known as traditional projector makers set high prices for their products. In this sense, Xiaomi and companies related to it are considered to be the best options when it comes to cost-effectiveness. Anyway, if you want to get your hands on a truly good product and the price doesn’t matter, Philips can be considered the best brand in the niche. Recently, this brand brought a new product to crowdfunding. We are talking about the Philips Screeneo U4, an ultra-short-throw projector, which was first introduced in February.
According to the Indiegogo info, the shipping will commence in August 2022. And of course, if buying it through Indiegogo, you will get a 50% price cut for the projector.
The Philips Screeneo U4 has a 0.25:1 throw ratio. Simply put, you can place it 7.7-inches from a wall and it will display an image of 60 inches. Another option, when placing it 12 inches away, you will get an 80-inch image.
Other than that, the Philips Screeneo U4 ultra-short-throw projector supports ‘True’ 1080p, plus HDR10 and XPR technology. Unfortunately, the highest refresh rate of the projected image is only 60 Hz. The response time is 30 ms with a peak 60 Hz refresh rate. Another interesting feature of the Philips Screeneo U4 is the outputs of up to 400 nits with 108% Rec.709 color space coverage. Not surprisingly, this projector supports autofocus, auto-keystone, 4-corner correction, and an LED light source that is promised to last up to 30,000 hours.
Inside the beautiful fuselage, the projector hosts an Amlogic T972 SoC. On the sides, we can find two HDMI ports, a USB Type-A port, a 3.5 mm jack, and two 15 W speakers.
As for pricing, at the moment, it costs €599 on Indiegogo.
