Over the years, there have been many signs that the Korean tech giant Samsung will develop a smartphone with a scrolling or sliding screen. And the company has also introduced some of these display technologies.
Last month, as reported by ‘SamMobile’, a patent filed in 2020 was published which has as its protagonist a device with a rollable screen, which we can better observe thanks to the concept created by well-known designer Jermaine Smith, who was inspired by the above patent.
As you can see, Samsung’s next phone is envisioned with a rollable display that can expand on its own to cover the entire back, increasing the display area. As a result, the overall size of this scrolling screen smartphone will be smaller than that of the Galaxy Z Fold3, while providing a larger screen size.
Launch of Samsung’s First Rollable Screen Smartphone
It should be noted that Samsung files thousands of patents each year for ideas that seem even more outlandish than this. They are not necessarily released as commercial products. So it’s entirely possible that we’ll never see a device like this from Samsung.
However, phones with scrollable and slideable screens seem to be the next step after folding screens. Samsung Display has been actively working on this technology for many years. Therefore, they may surprise us in the long run. Wait and watch it!
