We first heard about a new Xiaomi product dubbed the Xiaomi Book S 12.4 in March this year. What we learned was that we were dealing with a new laptop, not even released in China. That’s why there was no concrete information about the upcoming notebook. All we knew came our way from Geekbench. From the latter, we learned that the yet-to-be-released Xiaomi product will feature the latest generation Qualcomm processor and be ultra-lightweight. However, today, we got more info. What’s more interesting is that the Xiaomi Book S 12.4 will arrive in Europe soon.
Xiaomi has already published EU Declaration of Conformity (CE) documentation for the Book S. The 12.4-inch tablet bears the model number MIT2205-AA.
As the name suggests, 12.4 will be the size in inches of the integrated screen, which should be OLED according to the information we have. In comparison to the previous models, the logo in the center will be missing. It seems that the body will be glossy and not opaque. In fact, this is an unprecedented design element never seen on Xiaomi laptops.
We can also see that the Xiaomi Book S 12.4 has several pogo pins, flanked by two recessed apertures. For ordinary users, this might seem useless. But the pins mean our protagonist will support a detachable keyboard. Hence, we are dealing with a 2-in-1 product and not a traditional laptop.
Well, let’s get back to the known features. The Xiaomi Book S 12.4 will sport a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 chip. This is not the latest model in the line, as there is the 8cs Gen 3. So there is every reason to think it is going to be a mid-range product rather than a beast. The Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 will be inferior to Snapdragon 888 in terms of performance. It will run Windows 11 and have 8 GB of RAM.
The aforementioned information lets us think about the Xiaomi Book S 12.4 as a Surface Pro X competitor, rather than a tablet to compete with tablets like the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus.
