Nokia is not dead. Though it is barely breathing, there is still some juice in its legs. This means we will see some new models in the coming months. Particularly, recently, nokiapoweruser reported that the Nokia XR21 5G, Nokia X21 5G, and Nokia X11 5G smartphones will be launched in the second half of 2022. As you see, all three models are 4G-enabled handsets. Thus, Nokia is betting on this niche only.
Generally, Nokia Mobile plans to launch a number of Nokia X and G series 5G smartphones in the second half of this year. Many of the scheduled models will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G processors, rather than the UNISOC that is often used before. And we notice an interesting trend in this segment – the vendors have begun using Qualcomm chipsets instead of MediaTek and UNISOC cheap-but-weak chips.
The source also believes that these X-series smartphones may feature 120 Hz refresh rate screens, and the high-end products of the new G-series smartphones may also have 120 Hz displays. Thus, Nokia will make the high-refresh-rate screens one of the main selling points of its upcoming smartphones.
Of course, the names we wrote above are not official. But most likely, the names such as Nokia XR21, Nokia X21, and Nokia X11 are accurate.
After Qualcomm’s conference, HMD Global issued a press release, and we could see that Nokia hinted that they are considering releasing the Snapdragon 480 Plus smartphones in the future. As a reference, Nokia Mobile used the Snapdragon 480 5G processor in its 2021 phones.
Therefore, HMD Global is likely to launch an upgraded Nokia smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus. However, this is not what the Nokia fans have been waiting for. We mean the Snapdragon 480 Plus the enhanced version of the original Snapdragon 480. Thus, we are dealing with a cost-effective model, whereas the company’s fans have been looking toward flagship models.
