Today, the platform released the list of the best Android phones in May 2022. Though we understand that the test results do not completely display the phones’ capabilities, it’s a good indicator for understanding which smartphone brands lead the market.
Surprisingly, the newly-released MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip wins the race in the sub-flagship smartphones competition. It took 8 places out of 10. So we can prove that this is the most popular chip of the Taiwanese chip maker in recent years. However, when looking at its parameters, we understand that there is nothing surprising with such a performance. We mean it’s considered to be a true beast in terms of performance. But unlike the higher versions, it costs less, which allows the smartphone OEMs to use it in their sub-flagship models.
Anyway, we guess you are more interested in the performance of the flagship models. In the list of best Android smartphones in May, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip has no equals. Various models powered by this chip have appeared on the list.
Honestly, we were not surprised when saw a gaming smartphone leading the list. And as you guess, it is the Black Shark 5 Pro. Phones from this series have been on the top in recent years. Moreover, the other two models that entered the top three are also gaming smartphones – the Red Magic 7 Pro and the Lenovo Legion Y90. That’s not difficult to guess that the top three smartphones sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.
However, the VIVO X80 landed in the fourth position comes with another SoC, Dimensity 9000. The gap between the first and the fourth positions is around 35,000 points. This means that MediaTek could make a chip, which is capable of making competition to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. By the way, 8 out of 10 models on the list feature Qualcomm’s chip.
Finally, AnTuTu also released a list of the best Android phones in the mid-range category. And on this list, the Snapdragon 778G is an absolute leader. The first three places are occupied by the iQOO Z5, Xiaomi Civi 1S, and Honor 60 Pro.
