The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip made more stir than the original version of the chip. The reason is that it uses TSMC’s more advanced 4nm process instead of Samsung’s 4nm process. Due to it and other minor improvements, this chip is capable of providing way better performance. Well, once the chip was out, all big smartphone brands announced their intentions of launching flagship phones powered by this chipset. Xiaomi was among them, and we know that the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra is on the road. It will become Xiaomi’s first handset sporting the Snapdragon 8+. The phone is scheduled to hit the stores in July.
However, apart from the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra, there will be four more flagship phones coming this year. As a Weibo tipster said, five Xiaomi flagships will be launched in the second half of the year. They are codenamed L1, L2s, L2m, L3s, and L18. Some of them will host the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ and some will come with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship processor.
Let’s see which smartphones these codenames refer to. The L1 ought to be the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra cameraphone. The camera on the back is jointly created by Xiaomi and Leica.
The L2s should be the upgraded version of the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro and it is expected to come with the Snapdragon 8+ flagship processor. In this sense, the L2m is going to be the Dimensity version of the Xiaomi Mi 12 Pro, coming with the Dimensity 9000 chipset.
The L3s may be the upgraded version of the vanilla Xiaomi Mi 12, sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+. And we think it will still position as a small screen flagship.
The L18 may be the Xiaomi MIX FOLD 2. Thus, we guess the codename refers to the second-gen folding screen smartphone of the company.
Once again, the mentioned five Xiaomi flagships will start hitting the stores in July one after another.
