According to the analyst, the Japanese company will launch the product in the first quarter of 2023. The launch date might be pushed back depending on the development progress of the PS VR2.

Sony announced some information about the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset at CES 2022 earlier this year. Looking at the specs list, it will be one of the most powerful VR systems in the consumer market.

We knew that the forthcoming PlayStation VR2 will be compatible with the PlayStation 5.

Sony PlayStation VR2 Features

The Sony PlayStation VR2 will sport an OLED display with support for 4K resolution (2000 x 2,040 pixels per eye), 90/120Hz screen refresh rate, and HDR. Other parameters include a 110-degree wide-angle field of view, eye-tracking technology, 3D surround sound, and a head-mounted display vibration. It will come with an “inside-out” camera array, which will be able to track the user’s space without the need for an external device like the original PS VR’s webcam.

The PlayStation VR2’s eye-tracking system, called “foveated rendering,” allows the VR system to render fewer pixels. Due to it, the VR system can dynamically increase blurriness and reduce the number of pixels in ways that natural peripheral vision may not perceive.

Sony also claims that the PS VR2 will also have an easy setup process. It can be connected to the PS5 via a single cable.

The first game for the Sony PlayStation VR2 is going to be the Horizon VR: Call of the Mountain. The game lets VR players explore a very Horizon-like forest filled with oversized robots.
