At the end of March this year, Xiaomi’s ex-brand released the Black Shark 5 series of gaming smartphones. There were three models, including the vanilla Black Shark 5, Black Shark 5 Pro, and Black Shark RS. Unfortunately, all three have been for purchase in China only. Today, from the company’s Facebook page, we learned that the models will go on sale globally next month. One of the first destinations will be Malaysia.
Particularly, Black Shark’s Malaysian division shared on the social platform that they are going to launch the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro in Malaysia on June 8. Moreover, they will stream the launch event not only via Facebook but through TikTok as well. Unfortunately, the third model, the Black Shark 5 RS won’t attend the event. Moreover, there is no sign of whether it will ever appear in the Malaysian market.
At the moment, we have no information concerning the pricing of the Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 Pro. But we can take into consideration their prices in China. This could be a landmark if only there are no configuration differences. For this, we have to recall the selling points of the Chinese models.
In China, the base model comes with the Snapdragon 870 SoC, while the Pro version sports the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. In other words, the former version is a mid-range smartphone, while the Pro variant is a true flagship. Other than that, both come with triple cameras. But the sensors’ parameters vary from model to model. For instance, the Black Shark 5 uses a combination of 64MP primary, 13MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro units, whereas the Black Shark 5 Pro’s camera consists of a 108MP camera,a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP telephoto macro sensor.
