Earlier today, following the schedule, Honor launched a new generation of the MagicBook 14 ultrabook. The latter boasts of the 12th-generation Core and RTX light-chasing graphics cards. However, the selling point of the mentioned laptop is the world’s first use of OS Turbo technology. We’ll still manage to get into details. The price of the notebook starts at 4,999 yuan ($735).
New System
As an ultrabook, the performance of the Honor MagicBook 14 is one of the biggest highlights. We mean though it has a slim and attractive body, the laptop uses Honor’s self-developed OS Turbo technology. The latter is a PC-specific feature brought by Magic OS for Windows. It comes with an intelligent scheduling engine (central brain/important commander) and an intelligent power consumption engine. This technology can realize the precise control of CPU/GPU power consumption according to the system load.
As the company said, OS Turbo technology covers 95% of daily use time, and the overall performance can be increased by 10%.
Hardware and Performance
At the same time, the Honor MagicBook 14 also has a standard 75W large battery under the 14-inch fuselage. It is the first time that such a large capacity has been put in a 14-inch notebook. It also greatly improves the battery life. In the standby mode, it can reach 20 hours, plus, it can provide up to 17 hours of video playback, 13 hours of web browsing, and supports a 100W gallium nitride fast charging. It can be fully charged in 80 minutes.
In terms of performance, the entire Honor MagicBook 14 series sports the latest 12th-generation Core processor, optional Core i5 or i7, up to 10 cores and 16 threads, graphics cards up to RTX 2050, and support for game technologies such as light tracking and DLSS.
In other aspects, the Honor MagicBook 14 also has 16GB LPDDR5 memory and 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD hard drive.
We are dealing with an ultrabook. So it’s quite reasonable to look forward to heat dissipation. Moreover, our protagonist comes with an upgraded heat dissipation system. The latter consists of dual fans and double horn heat pipes. At the same time, the fin area is increased by 66% to 36,500 mm2, the air volume is increased by 35%, and the noise under low load is as low as 22 decibels.
The Honor MagicBook 14 also supports multi-mode selection. The CPU single-heat power consumption is 50W, the GPU single-heat power consumption is 60W, and the dual-heat can release 70W performance. So it is capable of not only handling the daily office tasks but also can provide outstanding performance when doing professional work and playing heavy games.
Honor MagicBook 14 Display And Appearance
Other than that, the Honor MagicBook 14 sports a 14-inch full-coverage glossy screen with a 3:2 ratio, a resolution of 2160×1440, 100% sRGB color gamut, and 300nits brightness, and a screen ratio of up to 88.15%, bringing an immersive visual experience.
Of course, the Honor MagicBook 14 also supports triple eye protection. It includes the German Rheinland software low blue light eye protection certification, the German Rheinland flicker-free eye protection certification, and the National Eye Engineering Center eye protection certification.
This is a quite lightweight laptop of only 1.54kg and has a thickness of 15.9mm. The notebook comes in two colors: star gray and ice silver.
Other Selling Points
Well, all the aforementioned features make the laptop stand out. But there are many other attractive features coming our way from the Honor MagicBook 14. For instance, it has obtained Intel EVO certification, supports fingerprint recognition power button, full-featured USBC interface, supports shutdown charging, dual-antenna Wi-Fi 6, HDMI output and full-size keyboard, etc.
We are dealing with an Honor product. So it’s logical to see Honor sharing on it. Plus, the laptops support multi-screen collaboration, multi-device collaboration, etc., and run the Win11 system. Due to the cloning feature, it can copy 200Gb files in 39 minutes only. The transfer speed can reach up to 70MB/S.
