At CES 2022 at the beginning of this year, ASUS released the world’s first foldable OLED notebook, namely Zenbook 17 Fold. It came with an unordinary design, which made many people wow. At the launch, the manufacturer announced that it had worked closely with both Intel and BOE Technology Group to design this device.
Today, BOE’s official Weibo page stated that the Zenbook 17 Fold uses its first 17.3-inch OLED folding screen. Moreover, it’s been exclusively shipped to Asus.
This unique OLED folding screen adopts BOE’s new independent distribution technology, which can greatly improve the screen quality and enhance the color accuracy of low grayscale.
In addition, this screen has also passed the TüV Rheinland eye protection certification. It supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and has a Dolby Vision HDR certification.
As a notebook screen, this 17.3-inch flexible screen can be folded in half from the middle. So it is capable of bringing two 12.5-inch 1080P screens to users.
According to Asus data, the Zenbook 17 Fold also uses an Intel 12th-generation i7 processor and Iris Xe core display. Thus, it’s suitable not only for basic office tasks but also for audio-visual entertainment needs.
Other than that, the notebook features a Dolby Atmos and Harman Kardon-certified quad-speaker sound system. The laptop comes with Windows Hello support and a built-in 5-megapixel camera with Asus’ 3D noise reduction technology.
Other interesting features of this laptop are the full-size Asus ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad. In combination with its foldable design, the laptop can be used in various modes such as PC, laptop, tablet, on-screen keyboard, book, extend, etc.
Lastly, there is 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Windows 11, and a 75Wh battery that supports a 65W fast charging.
At the moment, there is still no concrete information on when it will appear in the stores and at what a price tag.
