For many years smartphone makers have been looking for new niches. There was time when such a segment was considered to be the gaming smartphones market. However, now, we can say that foldable smartphone is what they all have been looking for. On the market, you can find folding screen smartphones coming our way only from a few smartphone vendors. They are Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, Moto, and OPPO. However, everything will change soon. Apart from the mentioned brands and their new models, other manufacturers will join the race.

Well, recently, there have been many rumors and leaks concerning the next-gen Xiaomi folding screen smartphone. The current version of the Xiaomi MIX Fold performs quite well. But agree that it needs improvements. Unfortunately, though this phone was released a year ago, there is still not much reliable information concerning the next-gen model.

Today, we got some news from XDA showing what a look it will have. Particularly, XDA Senior Member kacskrz showed graphical assets within the latest MIUI China builds. The images he shared showcase that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will differ from the first model.

From the images, we can see the square camera bump on the back of the device with rounded corners. If you remember, the current model has a more rectangular bump.

Plus, we can see the cutout camera on the outer screen. At the same time, the inner screen is blank. Thus, this can simply mean Xiaomi will not have any cameras on the inner display.

Prior to this, we learned that the Xiaomi foldable is codenamed “zizhan” (vs “cetus” for the Mi Mix Fold). Moreover, code within MIUI suggests that “zizhan” will use a display panel used on “umi”. The latter corresponds to the Xiaomi Mi 10. If so, the cover display of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will support a 90Hz FHD+ panel with possible HDR 10+ support. The display size on the Mi 10 is 6.67-inches. But if remember, it came with curved edges.
