A few days ago, Huawei officially announced that it will hold a new product launch conference on April 28 and as you guess, at the event, the manufacturer will uncover a new generation of folding flagship, namely the Huawei Mate Xs 2.
This means that in less than a week, we will meet the company’s new foldable smartphone. But what’s regrettable is that there is still no official information concerning the phone’s look and specs. However, we have never relied on official information only.
According to an analyst @Ross Young, one of the biggest upgrades of the Huawei Mate Xs 2 would be the screen. It will be an LTPS screen supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. This is a must for flagship phones. So if Huawei wants to make a tough competition in this field, it just has to bring this feature to its upcoming foldable model.
Mate Xs 2 should have an upgraded display vs. the Xs, at 120Hz. But still LTPS rather than LTPO. Price may be around $2500…

It is worth noting that Ross Young also mentioned the price information of the Huawei Mate Xs 2, saying that the price of the machine may be around $2,500.
Well, from the official poster, we can see that the phone will adopt the same external folding screen design as the previous generation Huawei Mate Xs. Thus, there will be a single large screen outside. But this could become a selling point for the handset because there is no folding screen smartphone with such a design on the market.
Although the external folding design will cause certain risks, if the company improves the screen protection, this could become a better solution compared with the conventional internal folding screens. Thus, this will reduce the thickness of the body and power consumption.
At the same time, because the outward folding design will allow directly taking selfies through the back camera, this also means there will be no holes on the screen. So we will get a large screen that can provide a better immersion feeling.
We think this phone will have no rivals. Yu Chengdong, Executive Director of Huawei, Devices BG CEO, and Smart Car Solutions BU CEO said that the Mate Xs 2 is the fifth model in the Huawei foldable smartphone category. So it will surely surpass consumers’ expectations.
