Google Pixel 6a Obtained FCC Appoval, Hinting At Upcoming Launch

Google Pixel 7

Recently, mysmartprice reported that the new Google Pixel series has been certified by the FCC, and there are four models, namely GX7AS, GB17L, GB62Z, and G1AZG.

The GX7AS ought to be the upcoming Google Pixel 6a, while the remaining three belong to the high-end Pixel 7 series. They are set to be announced in the second half of the year. The FCC certification shows that all four models support 5G networks, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and NFC.

At the same time, OnLeaks shared some renders of an upcoming Pixel 7 smartphone. From the renders, we can see that the design style of the Pixel 7 series is basically the same as that of the previous generation Pixel 6 series. The most noticeable differences are the integrated design of the camera metal cover and the middle frame.

Google Pixel 7 Specs

As said, the Google Pixel 7 flagship series will be similar in design to the Pixel 6 series. Thus, they will be still using the current mainstream center-punch-hole full screen on the front and a long strip camera module on the back. The Pro version is equipped with three lenses arranged horizontally, whereas the regular version has two lenses arranged horizontally, with only one opening.

Also, the Pixel 7 will use a 6.3-inch screen, and the Pixel 7 Pro will sport a 6.7-inch screen, both of which are OLED screens that support a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

In addition, the biggest highlight is that the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are pre-installed with the Android 13 operating system from the factory. So not accidentally, they will be the world’s first Android 13 flagships to be certified by the FCC.

By the way, the Android 12 operating system has already paid great attention to widgets, UI design, and system fluency.

Update: Though we have been thinking that these are going to belong to the Google Pixel 7 series, it turns out the mentioned model names are for the Google Pixel 6a models only. This makes sense because the series has been rumored to come in May at the Google I/O event.

If so, it’s recommended to recall the key features of the Pixel 6a. It ought to sport a 6.2-inch OLED display with a centered hole-punch screen design. Inside, the phone should carry the Google self-developed Tensor GS101 chip. On the back, the phone will have a camera consisting of a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor, which was first available on Pixel phones in 2018. There will also be a 12MP Sony IMX386 ultrawide lens. Meanwhile, for the selfie camera, it will use an 8MP Sony IMX355 lens.
