Today, a Weibo blogger said that the VIVO X80 series will sport the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 flagship processor. Apart from this, the phone will come with a self-developed image chip V1. The latter will perform well in low-light environments and can be called a “night vision device”.
The VIVO X80 would be able to perform well in light-sufficient environments thanks to the V1 image chip developed by VIVO. When shooting night scenes, the V1 chip can perform real-time calculations and MEMC frame interpolation compensation. It supports FHD 60FPS MEMC motion compensation, which can run a huge amount of calculations and improve the user’s creative space for shooting night scenes.
In addition, VIVO has improved the imaging algorithm by coordinating the self-developed V1 chip with the ISP in the SoC to achieve the effect of 1+1>2.
We are talking about the advantages brought by the V1 chip, but we shouldn’t underestimate the advantages of the Sony IMX866 sensor, which will be equally responsible for the night shooting. The leaked sample photo shows the phone in action. And though some users might be disappointed with the actual shooting environment/light, there is no smartphone on the market that can “notice” light in such a full-dark situation.
In addition to the flagship-level camera, another highlight of the VIVO X80 series is the aforementioned Dimensity 9000 chip. The latter adopts TSMC’s 4nm process and consists of 1 Cortex-X2 super core, 3 Cortex-A710 large cores, and 4 Cortex-A510 small cores. The chip integrates the ARM Mali-G710 graphics card. The comprehensive score in AnTuTu has exceeded 1 million points, which is on par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8.
As said, the Dimensity 9000 processor is the closest rival to the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 this year. However, it is expected to perform way better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. We say this based on the features on the paper. But the models available on the market haven’t shown anything outstanding. So we tend to think that the biggest highlight of the VIVO X80 will be the camera and not the chip.
