In March last year, Huawei announced the launch of the new Huawei Mate 40E, equipped with the Kirin 990E chip. In terms of configuration, this phone came with weaker hardware. But it has effectively increased the shipments of the Mate 40 series. Not long after that, there were rumors that HiSilicon would launch a Kirin 9000L chip.
Kirin 9000L Parameters
Today, a number of Weibo bloggers said that the Kirin 9000L does exist, and it will debut through the upcoming 2022 Huawei Mate 40E (Pro). The machine will support 5G and will be available next month along with the Huawei P50E (which does not support 5G).

Judging from last year’s leaks, the Kirin 9000L mobile platform design is similar to that of the Kirin 9000E and Kirin 9000. However, our protagonist seems to be manufactured by Samsung’s 5nm EUV process, which is slightly inferior to the two predecessors manufactured by TSMC.
The main frequency of the large-core A77 CPU of the Kirin 9000L is reduced to 2.86GHz (both the 9000 and 9000E clocked at 3.13GHz), the GPU is an 18-core Mali-G78 (24 cores for the 9000, 22 cores for the 9000E), and only one NPU is reserved.
Huawei Mate 40E Features
The Huawei Mate 40E uses a 6.5-inch 68° curved screen with a 2376 × 1080 resolution, a 90Hz screen refresh rate, and a 240Hz sampling touch rate. It supports 16.7 million colors and a DCI-P3 wide color gamut. There are three colors of mithril, bright black, and glaze white.
In terms of configuration, the Huawei Mate 40E is equipped with the Kirin 990E 5G SoC, a built-in 4200mAh battery, and supports dual 40W wired and wireless superfast charging.
As for the Kirin 990E chip, it adopts the 7nm+ EUV process and Huawei DaVinci architecture has a 14-core Mali-G76 GPU and supports dual-mode NSA / SA 5G networks.
In terms of cameras, the Huawei Mate 40E has a front-facing 13-megapixel super-sensing camera (wide-angle, f/2.4 aperture), while on the rear, it sports a triple-camera including a 64-megapixel wide-angle lens (f/1.9 aperture) + 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2 aperture) + 8MP telephoto camera (f / 2.4 aperture, supports OIS (optical image stabilization)).
Huawei Mate 40E Pro
The rumored phone should be the Huawei Mate 40E Pro. There is every reason to think it will inherit many specs of the current model. But as the name implies, some features will be better than those on the original variant.
