Black Shark 5 Series Phones Visited TENAA, Fully Exposing All Features

Black Shark Technology announced last month that the Black Shark 5 series of mobile phones will be launched soon. At the same time, it confirmed that the phone will sport the new Snapdragon 8 mobile platform. Today, the handset appeared in TENAA, fully exposing its key features.

As a Weibo tipster claimed, the Black Shark 5 series includes two models, the Black Shark 5 and the Black Shark 5 Pro. Among them, the Black Shark 5 uses a 6.67-inch 2400*1080 resolution ultra-high refresh rate AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 870 chip, 12GB memory, front-mounted 13-megapixel camera, rear 64-megapixel main camera, built-in 4650mAh battery, which supports dual-core 100-watt flash charge, etc. The phone’s dimensions are 163.83×76.25×10.37mm, while the weight is 223g.

The Black Shark 5 Pro, as the name implies, will come with a higher configuration. It uses a 6.67-inch 2400*1080 resolution ultra-high-refresh rate AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, up to 16GB memory, a front 13-megapixel camera, and a rear 108-megapixel camera. The phone also has a built-in 4650mAh battery, which supports dual-core 100W flash charging. The handset’s measurements are 163.86×76.53×9.8mm, and the weight is 226g.

In addition, the Black Shark 5 series is expected to come with “SSD-level storage”. This technology has been applied to the Black Shark 4S Pro. In this regard, Luo Yuzhou, CEO of Black Shark Technology, called it “creating a precedent for the Android camp”.

Black Shark introduced a custom NVME solid-state drive SSD in the Black Shark 4 series. Also, it took the lead in introducing a disk array solution in the industry, bringing PC-side SSD solid-state drives to mobile phones. The storage and reading performance have been greatly improved. The storage speed of mobile phones ushered in a revolutionary growth phase.

It is worth mentioning that sources previously said that Tencent is preparing to acquire Black Shark Technology, a subsidiary of Xiaomi Group, for 2.7 billion yuan. It is still under negotiation. After the transaction is completed, Black Shark’s future business focus will shift from gaming phones to VR devices as a whole – Tencent provides content, and Black Shark provides VR hardware access.

So it turns out the Black Shark 5 series models will be the last gaming smartphones under this brand. This is a good chance for Nubia, Lenovo, and ASUS that are making similar handsets. And seems, the gap left by Black Shark will be filled by Nubia first.
