A few hours ago, Honor held a new product launch conference and unleashed the much-talked and much-anticipated smartphone in face of the Honor Magic V.
This is Honor‘s first folding-screen phone and the world’s first folding-screen flagship equipped with the new Snapdragon 8 processor. In other words, we are dealing with the world’s most powerful folding screen phone at present.
Honor Magic V Screens
The Honor Magic V adopts a horizontal folding scheme. It comes with a 7.9-inch super-sized screen with an aspect ratio of 10.3:9, a resolution of 2272 x 1984, and a pixel density of 381ppi.
At the same time, this screen also supports a 90Hz refresh rate, a global maximum brightness of 800nit, a peak maximum brightness of 1000nit, and supports 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 10bit color, HDR10+, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and other technologies. It is also the first in the industry to come with an IMAX Enhanced certification.
It is worth mentioning that the inner screen of the Honor Magic V also uses a magnetron nano-optical film to achieve an ultra-low screen reflectivity (<1.5%), which is even higher than that of the Apple 10,000-dollar display Pro Display XDR (<2.1%). It can greatly reduce the impact of creases on the visual experience.
As for the external screen, the Honor Magic V sports a 6.45-inch OLED screen with a ratio of 21.3:9, a resolution of 2560 x 1080, a pixel density of 431ppi, and a screen-to-body ratio of 90%. In terms of parameters, it supports 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 1 billion colors, and HDR10+ technology, the global maximum brightness is 1000nit, the peak maximum brightness is 1200nit, and it also supports a 120Hz refresh rate.
Moreover, our protagonist also uses a curved nanocrystalline glass process, and the mobile phone has stronger anti-drop performance than the ordinary Corning Gorilla Glass panel.
The Honor Magic V also folds the screen to bring a new way of interaction, such as a single-application parallel horizon progressive display, multi-application, multitasking multi-window, floating window, smart split screen, etc.
At the same time, the Honor Magic V has further deepened the linkage of internal and external dual screens, which can seamlessly and smoothly switch between internal and external screen content by folding and unfolding the screen. The process is smoother and avoids a sense of separation.
Hardware
In terms of hardware and performance, the Honor Magic V features a new generation of Snapdragon 8 processors, which adopts the most advanced 4nm process technology. Compared with the previous generation, the performance has been improved a lot. With OS Turbo X and GPU Turbo X technology, the overall performance output is more stable and durable, and it is the most powerful folding-screen mobile phone at present.
In terms of battery life, the Honor Magic V has a built-in 4750mAh high-capacity battery with an asymmetric dual-battery structure. Also, it supports 66W wired fast charging.
Camera
As for photography, the Honor Magic V has a vertically arranged triple camera on the back. The specifications are a 50-megapixel main camera + 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle + 50-megapixel spectral enhancement camera, of which the main camera is a 1/1.5-inch super large CMOS.
As for the opposite side, Honor comes with a 42-megapixel lens for the inner and outer screens.
Honor provides three color options for the Magic V, including titanium silver, bright black, and burning orange with the plain leather version.
Honor Magic V Price
The Honor Magic V offers two versions. The 12GB + 256GB version is priced at 9999 yuan ($1568), whereas the 12GB + 512GB version costs 10,999 yuan ($1725). They will go on sale on January 18.
