If you want to buy a new smartphone but also want nostalgic details on this phone, Astro Slide 5G may be just for you. This foldable smartphone was unveiled at CES 2022 by Planet Computers. Here is the information we have about this phone with a physical keyboard and 5G connection technology.
The Astro Slide was the world’s first 5G mobile device with a physical keyboard. The device is equipped with a sliding structure bearing the name RockUp, which allows the display to be used with the keyboard in an ergonomic position. The Astro Slide measures 172.4 x 76.5 x 18.7 mm and weighs 325 grams.
The Astro Slide 5G features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with 2340 × 1080 pixels Full HD + resolution. There is a 48MP camera on the back and a shooting light, and a 13MP camera on the front. The keyboard is backlit and offers a variety of key layout options – including Finland / Sweden with hotkeys. You can also customize the keyboard functions to your liking.
The system circuit is a rather modest, lower-middle-class MediaTek Dimensity 800 by today’s standards, which includes an integrated 5G modem. Along with it, there is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD memory card slot. The autonomy is ensured by a battery with a capacity of 4000mAh, which can be charged with up to 30W.
As an operating system version, Astro Slide includes Android 11, but support is also available for parallel installation of Linux operating systems. In addition, Planet Computers also supports the introduction of the Finnish Jolla Sailfish OS.
Other features include a fingerprint reader, two nano-SIM card slots and eSIM, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac / Bluetooth 5.1 / NFC connectivity, GPS positioning, two USB-C connections, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Astro Slide can be ordered from Planet Computers’ own online store and its deliveries are planned to begin in March of this year at the price of about $1170.
