CES is a place, where you will meet any kind of gadgets. Smartphones are no exception. And the first models from this segment come our way from TCL. A brand that always introduces its own models but never competes with the top brands. Just now, the company announced its 30-series phones. Both the TCL 30 V 5G and TCL XE 5G promise 5G connectivity at affordable prices. What’s more interesting, they will be available in more markets than their predecessors. According to Engadget, they are coming to Verizon and T-Mobile.
The TCL 30 V 5G and TCL XE 5G will go on sale in the US starting as early as February. At the moment, we have no price information but be sure they won’t exceed $500.
TCL XE 5G Key Features
The TCL 30 XE 5G sports a 6.52-inch display at 1,600 x 720 resolution and up to 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it boasts a 4,500mAh battery and a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. The latter is known for better handling AI tasks like image processing.
If talking about photography, the phone carries a triple camera system on the rear. But this is not what should make you wow. It has a depth sensor and a 2-megapixel camera. Thus, most of the work will be done by the single 13-megapixel main camera sensor. When saying this, we mean recording videos at up to 1080p. However, this shouldn’t disappoint you as we are dealing with affordable phones.
TCL 30 V 5G Key Features
The TCL 30 V comes with a bigger 6.67-inch display at 1,080 x 2,400 resolution. Thus, it has more pixels than the 30 XE. However, it has no 90Hz refresh rate support.
Inside, we can find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chip. It is considered to be a low-end model. But surprisingly, or protagonist features a 50-megapixel primary camera, which is paired with a 5MP super-wide shooter and a 2MP macro lens. Also, there is 4GB RAM and 128GB native storage.
The TCL 30 V adopts a different front panel design. Unlike the notched front-facing camera of the 30 XE, this model uses a pinhole in the screen for its 16MP selfie cam. But the battery capacity remains unchanged at 4,500mAh.
As said, they are going to the US first. The TCL 30 XE 5G launches on T Mobile – date TBC – while the 30 V is landing on Verizon. These handsets should be available with interesting plans and won’t cost much. More information will be revealed soon.
