Last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 Olympic Edition in Japan, to celebrate the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Now, ahead of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, which will take place from February 4 to 20, the Korean tech giant announced the launch of a limited edition of its folding phone to commemorate this great sporting event.
Dubbed the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G Olympic Edition, this version of the phone sports the new Winter Dream White color. In turn, it presents gold details on the frame and hinges, as well as incorporating the Olympics logo on the back.
In addition to the aesthetic work, the smartphone also offers a completely customized interface, which includes wallpapers, icons, and clock styles for the secondary screen inspired by the upcoming Olympic Games.
With regard to technical specifications, this special edition has the same as the standard version. This means a flexible 6.7-inch screen with Full HD + resolution, a 3300mAh battery, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB internal storage. On a photographic level, the device is equipped with a 10MP front camera and a dual rear camera setup composed of a 12MP main lens and a 12MP ultra-wide angle.
Price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G Olympic Edition is only available in China, exclusively in the higher 8/256GB memory variant. It can only be pre-ordered via the Chinese version of Samsung’s official store, for the usual 7999 yuan (around $1258) for this memory variant. Samsung does not charge any extra for the special Olympic edition.

The company will start distributing the phones on January 15. The chances that this year’s “Olympic” Samsung will reach markets other than the Chinese one are practically negligible, given the strictly limited sales of last year’s predecessor. Recall, however, that in the past, these special editions did not hit the market at all. It was exclusively a sponsorship gift for athletes and other guests participating in the games.
