Amazon’s Fire HD 10, a well-reviewed option in the tablet space, is getting a facelift (and a new “Plus” variant with wireless charging).
The standard fire HD 10 is getting its first refresh since 2019, which includes a modest spec bump from 2GB of RAM to 3GB of RAM (the processor remains the same at 2Ghz). The tablet is also lighter and thinner than it’s 2019 predecessor, and Amazon says the display is 10% brighter.
Another huge upgrade for the data-hounds is an increase in potential expandable storage, as the 2021 model can now accept up to 1TB of external storage via Micro SD (as opposed to 512GB in the older model).
One thing that hasn’t changed is the price, which remains art $149 in the USA.
Brand new to the lineup, the Fire HD 10 Plus adds wireless charging for a $30 increase in price. The addition of wireless charging allows users to take advantage of a wireless charging stand, turning the Fire HD 10 into a touchscreen smart display. The only other notable change on the “Plus” variant is a minor spec bump, increasing RAM from 3GB to 4GB.
Both tablets are available to purchase now, but won’t ship until May 26.
