In December last year, the Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek released a new processor in the Dimensity series dubbed the Dimensity 8000. As the name implies, we are talking about a top-end chip that should make a tough competition to the snapdragon 8 series chips. Also, its launch in the last month of the year simply meant we will see new products powered by it sometime in 2022. But what we learned at that time was the names of the first phones that will come with it – Realme GT Neo 3 and the Redmi K50.
Today, a Weibo blogger claimed to have obtained information about a Dimensity 8000 mobile phone. The machine will sport a 6.6-inch 120Hz screen, 12GB of memory, a front 16MP lens, and a triple-camera on the rear, which consists of a 50MP 1/1.5″ OIS (optical image stabilization) lens, another 50MP sensor, and a 2MP lens. Judging from the leaked information, the phone might come with Samsung GN5 and JN1 sensors. It will be released after the Spring Festival, targeting the price range of 2,000 yuan ($615).
It was previously reported that the Dimensity 8000 will be built with TSMC’s 5nm process. Also, it will have 4 A78 large cores at 2.75GHz and 4 A55 small cores at 2.0GHz. The SoC will integrate the Mali-G510 MC6 graphics card, and support up to FHD+ 168Hz and QHD+120Hz screen, LPDDR5, and UFS 3.1.
More importantly, MediaTek Dimensity 8000’s AnTuTu comprehensive score reached 750,000 points, surpassing Snapdragon 870, which has an AnTuTu comprehensive score of around 700,000 points.
However, we have no certain information about which smartphone we are dealing with – the Redmi K50 or the Realm GT Neo 3. But the thing is that these two will have many things in common. And this is not surprising because they are fighting in the same niche. The Redmi K50 Pro or Pro Plus should also be direct rivals for the Realme GT 2 Pro. But if the Redmi K50 is on the road, there is not a lot of information concerning the launch date of the Realme phone. Maybe it will hit the market in late Q1 2022.
After all, the Realme GT Neo 2 still can be considered a new smartphone. It was launched in late September in China, October in India, and only reached Europe in November. Considering the Chinese launch date, we think the Redmi K50 will have enough time to make a name for itself.
